Gender Pay Gap, Money and Promotion

Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy and Director of Access for Women in Energy, spoke on gender pay gap, money and promotion at the Diversity in Energy Summit 2019 which took place on 8th October in London.
The session was framed to tackle the topic of the gender pay gap and how this can be dealt with effectively by the energy industry. What are the next steps and how can the energy sector lead the way in pay gap reporting, remuneration and promotion practices?
Dr Nakhle discussed gender pay gap with regards to the oil and gas industry, arguing that gender pay gap data on its own doesn’t reveal many new insights nor provide solution to the chronic situation. The sector remains largely a man’s world and despite things changing, there is still long way to go.
