Shale Gas: Securing the UK’s energy supply

As the UK prepares for the next general election, energy, its cost and security, will be a focus in the campaign. What role should shale gas play ?

Politeia’s energy series continues on 5th March with Shale Gas: Securing the UK’s Energy Supply. Speakers will be:

The Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP, House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee

Prof Robert Mair, Professor of Civil Engineering, Cambridge University, author of the Royal Society’s study Shale gas extraction in the UK: a review of hydraulic fracturing.

The discussion will focus on such themes as:

  • What  impact will UK shale gas production have?
  • How feasible – and safe – can extraction be?
  • What should government policy be?

The event will take place on Thursday 5th March, 12 noon -1pm at the East India Club, 16 James Square, London, SW1Y 54LH.
