The international competitiveness of Iran’s upstream contractual regime

Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy, talked about the international competitiveness of Iran’s upstream contractual regime at the 4th Iran Europe Oil, Gas and Energy Summit. The event took place in Berlin, Germany on 1-3 November 2016.

According to Dr Nakhle, Iran is on the radar screen of most oil companies but the decision to invest in the country will depend on a combination of factors. The international competitiveness of Iran Petroleum Contracts will play a major role. However, many ambiguities remain; unless they are resolved the commercial risk may be too high for companies to tolerate and for the Iranian government to realise its ambitions.
