US energy tax policy and climate change

Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy, spoke on the US approach to energy tax policy at a discussion hosted by the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center and the Brookings Center on Regulation and Markets just ahead of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

Dr Nakhle was joined by the tax policy experts, Gilbert Metcalf from Tufts University and Kurt Van Dender from OECD, who examined recent proposals for US energy tax policy.

Thornton Matheson from Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center moderated the discussion, and Catherine Wolfram, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Climate and Energy Economics at the US Department of the Treasury, shared her perspective on the Biden administration’s climate strategy.
