In an interview given to France 24 on this year’s international women’s day 2021 under the theme of women in leadership, Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy and Director of Access for Women in Energy, discusses the progress achieved so far.
In developed economies, particularly Europe, it is more common to see women in leadership positions whether in politics or at the executive level of companies. Some countries have even legislated a quota for female representation say for instance at board level. Still, more progress needs to be made to achieve true equality between men and women in the workspace.
This particularly applies to the energy industry, especially the oil and gas sector where female representation is meagre and dwindles with seniority. The boys’ club, OPEC, is one such illustration.
