OPEC cuts spur long-haul arbitrage shipments to Asia

Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy, comments on OPEC oil production cuts in an interview given to Reuters where Henning Gloystein discusses a recent surge in long-haul shipments of crude oil from the US, Brazil, the North Sea and the Mediterranean to Asia. Production cuts arising from last November’s agreement between OPEC and leading non-OPEC producers, in tandem with lower tanker freight rates have been the driving force behind these movements.
