In an interview given to Mohammed Seif Al Naser from BBC Arabic, Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy, discusses the main driver behind the appointment of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman as the new Saudi oil minister.
According to Dr Nakhle, the stubbornly ‘low’ oil price is most probably the trigger as oil markets have fundamentally changed following the shale revolution in North America. The recent changes in the leadership of both the energy ministry and Saudi Aramco are also aligned with the Kingdom’s drive towards achieving its Vision 2030. While the oil policy direction of Saudi Arabia is likely to remain the same, Dr Nakhle argues that we should expect to see more boldness.
