Betty Ahwera

Betty Ahwera is a tax professional with 8+ years’ experience in tax administration where she has led domestic and transfer pricing audits of international oil and gas and mining companies and participated in various domestic revenue mobilization projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

Betty has a specialty in the energy sector with a bias in energy transition, mineral resource taxation, transfer pricing and international tax, a passion she has applied to impart knowledge to fellow professionals as founder and tutor of international tax, transfer pricing and energy resources at Lettaz Tax (U) Ltd.

Betty is also a technical expert for extractives with the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) where she has delivered technical capacity development to African tax administrations and participated in tax reforms for the extractives sector of four countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

She is a holder of a Master of Science in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee where she completed six research papers on fiscal regimes, challenges of cross-border pipelines,

and the impact of taxes on renewable energy investments and graduated on top of her class with a distinction.

Furthermore, Betty is also a holder of a diploma in Energy Technology Economics and Management from the IFP School, Paris.

Betty is also a member of the ADIPEC youth council committee where she represents the voices of young energy professionals across the globe and has participated in panel discussions on fostering inter-generational dialogue on energy transition.

Betty is passionate about energy and resource management and aspires to become an energy policy expert and researcher.
