Captain Robert Seaman

Chair of the inter-Livery Green Aviation Task Group in the City of London

As Chair of the inter-Livery Green Aviation Task Group in the City of London, Robert has led on delivering the report on Globalising Net Zero Aviation – leveraging London to meet Paris. 

A passion for flying led him to become an airline pilot on the Airbus A320 family in 2018 with 6000hours experience.  He has been sustainability pilot and now addresses resilience in flight operations. Robert is director of Greentail, which develops innovative net zero financial structures for fleet acquisition.

A previous fourteen-year career in the British Government culminated as a Head of Policy Advice on National Security matters.  His portfolio included Climate Change and Geoengineering – ranging from technical to diplomatic matters – with production of strategic assessment at the Cabinet Office for senior officials as well as advice at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP), including at the Paris. 

Themes included political stability, food, water and energy (in)security and counter terrorism/insurgency.  Strategic projects with the United States resulted in numerous Presidential Daily Briefs.

Robert’s career started in the technical field of operational meteorology, focused on aviation, before moving to the role of Senior Applied Scientist on special projects. He is Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and a previously an expert advisor to the United Kingdom Flight Safety Committee.
