Eng. Azmi Al-Said Khreisat is the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (2003–2006), with more than four decades of leadership and technical experience in the electricity, oil and gas, renewable energy and energy policy sectors.
During his tenure as Minister, he led the restructuring of Jordan’s electricity sector, initiated major petroleum sector reforms, oversaw the development of the country’s natural gas infrastructure, and promoted private sector participation in strategic energy projects. Previously, he served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Director General of Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC), and held senior engineering and planning positions at the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).
Following his public service, Eng. Khreisat advised governments, international financial institutions, utilities and private investors on energy policy, electricity market reform, renewable energy, infrastructure development, energy security and regional energy cooperation across the Middle East
He is Former Chairman of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Jordan Network, a Fellow and Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), a member of the Arab Energy Club, and a member of the International Advisory Board of Texas A&M University. He has also served on numerous national and international energy boards and advisory committees.
Eng. Khreisat holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Leningrad Polytechnic Institute and an MSc in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Manchester (UMIST).
