Crystol Energy CEO, Dr. Carole Nakhle, was quoted in Bloomberg on Abu Dhabi’s decision to walk away from its multibillion-dollar bid for Santos. She noted that “the failed deal is more of a setback for Santos than for Abu Dhabi,” underscoring that ADNOC’s new global energy vehicle, XRG, is taking a disciplined rather than aggressive approach.
Dr. Nakhle stressed that the withdrawal signals caution and strategic patience: “Walking away demonstrates a measured approach to mega-deals rather than a rush to expand at any price.”
Looking ahead, she highlighted that this stance strengthens Abu Dhabi’s negotiating position for future opportunities: “Discipline today will give it leverage tomorrow.”
