Access for Women in Energy (AccessWIE) in collaboration with the Arab Bankers Association organised a seminar on the current energy crisis and its implications on markets, policies and geopolitics.
The event was held at the Arab British Chamber of Commerce, under the sponsorship of Qatar National Bank, Riyad Bank, Arab National Bank, and Gulf International Bank on 6 October 2022.
Lord David Howell, Chairman of Crystol Energy Advisory Board and Co-Chair of AccessWIE, and George Kanaan, CEO of the Arab Bankers Association, made the opening remarks, which were followed by presentation from the following renowned speakers.
Dr Paul Horsnell, Head of Commodities Research at Standard Chartered Bank Plc, provided an assessment of energy markets and the outlook for 2023
Dr Manal Shehabi, St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, and SHEER Research & Advisory, discussed the impacts and benefits on oil and gas economies in the Gulf region, as well as the effects on energy transition and economic diversification
Dr Sara Vakhshouri, President, SVB Energy International and SVB Green Access, focused on Iran and the outlook for the nuclear deal, as well as its impact on energy markets
Dr Emile Hokayem, Senior Fellow for Middle East Security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, discussed the impact on geopolitics in the Middle East
