Syria’s war-ravaged oil sector faces tough road to recovery

Crystol Energy CEO, Dr. Carole Nakhle, was quoted in Al Jazeera on what it would take for Syria to rehabilitate its oil and gas sector, and why the recovery path is likely to be difficult.

She explained that rehabilitation and new exploration are possible, but progress will take time and depend on political stability and clear regulation.

Dr. Nakhle also noted that Syria may be able to attract smaller, more adventurous investors, while leading companies could remain cautious given uncertainty around governance and security conditions. She concluded that while Syria’s oil and gas sector has potential, rebuilding it will be slow, risky, and heavily dependent on policy, security, and investment conditions.
