Dr Carole Nakhle, Chief Executive Officer of Crystol Energy, was invited by Deloitte to participate in its Energy Dialogues series for a fireside chat on the “new normal” in global energy markets.
Interviewed by Tarek Helmi, Deloitte’s Global Energy, Resources & Industrials Sector Leader, the discussion examined how the recent Middle East conflict is reshaping the global energy landscape and explored the structural changes that are likely to outlast the current geopolitical tensions. The interactive session concluded with questions from the audience, providing an opportunity to exchange views on the evolving challenges facing the energy sector.
A central theme of the discussion was that the industry should not expect a return to the status quo. While recent events have highlighted the resilience of the global energy system, they have also accelerated, reinforced – and in some cases introduced – lasting changes in how governments, companies and investors approach energy security, system resilience and long-term investment.

The conversation also highlighted that resilience has become a defining feature of today’s energy markets. Greater diversification of supply, technological innovation, increased storage capacity and more flexible markets have helped the global energy system absorb recent shocks more effectively than many had anticipated. Looking ahead, continued investment in energy production, low-carbon solutions, infrastructure and modernised grids will be essential to support secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems.
Crystol Energy thanks Deloitte and Tarek Helmi for the invitation and for facilitating a timely and thought-provoking discussion on the future of global energy markets.
