Dr Carole Nakhle, Chief Executive Officer of Crystol Energy, participated in the BMG Economic Forum 2026, held at the London Stock Exchange, where senior business leaders, policymakers and investors gathered to discuss the geopolitical and economic forces shaping the Middle East and the global economy.
Joining a panel on energy, geopolitics and investment, Dr Nakhle shared her perspectives on the evolving relationship between energy security, market resilience and long-term investment.
Among the key messages from the discussion were:
- Volatility does not necessarily mean vulnerability. While geopolitical events continue to create uncertainty, energy markets have become increasingly resilient, with participants better able to distinguish between short-term disruption and structural supply risks.
- Energy security has evolved. Reliable energy supplies remain essential, but equal attention must now be given to resilient infrastructure, diversified export routes and the ability to deliver energy safely and efficiently to global markets.
- The energy transition is entering a more pragmatic phase. The assumption that the transition would be both rapid and inexpensive has given way to greater recognition of regional differences, economic realities and the importance of maintaining energy security throughout the transition.
- Investment continues to be guided by fundamentals. Despite heightened geopolitical uncertainty, long-term capital allocation remains driven by stable policy environments, regulatory predictability and competitive investment frameworks.
The panel also explored the geopolitical risks and opportunities likely to shape investment across the GCC and the wider Middle East over the coming decade, highlighting the growing importance of resilience and policy credibility in an increasingly complex global environment.
As governments and investors navigate an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, discussions such as these play an important role in challenging assumptions and informing better decision-making.
Crystol Energy was delighted to participate in the BMG Economic Forum 2026 and looks forward to continuing to contribute to the global dialogue on energy markets, investment and geopolitical risk.
