For energy consumers, 2022 will be remembered as an annus horribilis. Skyrocketing prices have caused major economic pain and discontent the world over. Many governments have rushed to enact policies to alleviate the pain and avoid dire political consequences. But was the current situation inevitable or were the warning signs simply overlooked? What next for energy markets, policies and geopolitics?
